Sickness is not an excuse, and I would appreciate that not being read into my comment. Apologies if it was misleading.
"We naturally defend the artists whose art we like."
I enjoy a decent chunk of Jesse Lacey's music but am not making any concessions on his behalf. I dislike almost all of Maynard's music but am not going to throw him overboard on an opportunist basis (reread the posts on him - all anonymous but never refuted, no developments in the past two years that I can find).
It doesn't take much to step back from your opinions and realise they're pretty arbitrary compared to the weight of responsibility associated with these accusations. It's about as cheap not to as it is to turn this issue into wry whataboutism and armchair musings about human nature.

All pedophiles are sick by definition... and you say he never violated consent and then explain exactly how he violated consent in the same sentence... I get you're just trying to say the scenarios are different but the way you phrased that really comes off as defending/justifying what he did. Which I'm not saying you are, but it comes across that way the way you worded it
edit: comment I was responding to got edited

And yes, I've served on jury duty multiple times and experienced how our justice system works, and while it's not perfect it does a pretty damn good job.

Woah, I had no clue about the ERW stuff ... I'm really bummed looking into that.

That legit made me feel dirty for ever listening to him. I can still listen to Brand New or The Smiths despite their frontmen being terrible people but the testimony was just way too much for me to enjoy Manson's music anymore

I just read into it and it's way worse than I expected wow

You know what, I can't recall ever properly listening to a Marilyn Manson album.
Where's the best place to start?
