I'm not sure the age thing is really much of a factor in the praise. Critics and fans alike have not been kind to most of his work the last decade, including his last few albums.
Album is great, best since Tempest, probably better. I need to give it another whirl before I can settle on a rating though. Would be shocked if I didn't give this at least a 4 though.

I've Made Up My Mind is indeed one of the masterpieces here. Shows what Dylan learned from covering the Great American Songbook and crooners, and it sounds like one of those songs that's just always existed and someone just now plucked it from the ether. Here's my current rating/ranking:
1. I've Made Up My Mind 5
2. My Own Version of You 4.5
3. Key West 4.5
4. False Prophet 4
5. Black Rider 4
6. Murder Most Foul 4
7. Goodbye Jimmy Reed 3.5
8. Crossing the Rubicon 3.5
9. I Contain Multitudes 3
10. Mother of Muses 3

I love his delivery of this part so much
"I'll take the Scarface Pacino and The Godfather Brando
Mix it up in a tank and get a robot commando
If I do it upright and put the head on straight
I'll be saved by the creature that I create"

i really like that whole song, the idea of old man Dylan becoming some kind of mad scientist is gold.

His voice sounds surprisingly good here. Some studio trickery, of course, but mostly, he's on top of his game. A pleasant listen. Great songs, intriguing lyrics. Will dig deeper into it.

Meh. If you don't care about other late-period Dylan I wouldn't necessarily bother with this. If you do, then def get on it!

oh shit...a 16 minute track...looks like journeying through a doom album rn...
a lone journey, according to this silent thread...this ain't a bad album at all, with a little, but understandable, lack of energy.
