I mean I'm just jamming this now because I'm behind on all of my albums, but so far this kicks the shit out of Lightening Bolt.
Too much negativity on these boards, goddamn.
I mean, I AM pretty bias when it comes to this band, but still.

Also "Yield is one of their best albums."
Yes.
"Considering how Pearl Jam is now one of the only Seattle bands with the original singer still standing, I was expecting this release to be a lot darker and more intense... even if I understand how personal the issue is."
Nah man, they're a different kind of band now, have been for a while. They're still my favorite live band ever, but their darker days are like 20 years behind them lol
And Temple of the Dog fucking rules, yes.

That's true yeah, but I guess with how intense the last few years have been I still thought this would be like a super dark release compared to the last records at least. It's pretty crazy to think about how many of their friends have died.
So far I've only given this one spin :^)

Ye I thought the same, I'd say even " Lightning Bolt" was slightly darker than this...
Pearl Jam has always been a band that I enjoy the most when the lyrics/mood of the albums is darker but I still think this album's good

Yes dude, agreed hard. This isn’t a great album, but it’s still pretty solid and def kicks the shit out of Lightning Bolt, which I consider to be their worst album.

There is no way this deserves to have a rating less than Lightning Bolt. This is a mid-tier Pearl Jam album which for me personally, makes it a pretty great album.
Vitalogy > No Code > Vs > Ten > Yield > Pearl Jam > THIS > Backspacer > Binaural > Riot Act > Lightning Bolt

where are the pearl jam sputfans?
listening to this again now that they're debuting these songs live. gotta say that i detested "dance of the clairvoyants" upon initial listen, but it's grown to be one of the strongest catchiest songs they've written in quite some times and shakes up their hard rock formula

PJ felt into oblivion since they released Backspacer back in the day. It's like everything that was mystical about them it was gone. At least that's how I felt and I used to be a hardcore fan of the band.

One of the greatest live acts ever.
Couldn't force me to actually listen to one of their albums.

Backspacer aint even that bad of an album. It's actually very consistent and ends with one of their saddest songs to date

You guys need to just listen to their live shows instead.
They're so much better than their studio releases, I barely listen to their studio shit anymore. They're all just blueprints for their live shows.

They lost me after No Code. I'm curious to revisit the 3 after that to see if they hold up. I remember not liking them, but it's been like over a decade since I listened
