Maxo kream wipes his fat sweaty ass with Denzel but I’m not a huge fan of his cadence and energy or lackthereof, sometimes doesn’t seem like quite enough conviction behind the shit he’s rapping about if that makes sense
And upon relistening Denzel does have a tendency to cram multi syllable big brain words into his schemes in a way that gives the illusion of being technical and complex without being the case. And he can’t story tell for shit.
“Mystical miracle, I build imperial, I'm analytical, why Lotto had to be
Off to the clinical, now we're identical, black individual, no biochemical”
Stuff like that when delivered with his machine gun flow can seem pretty complex until you actually analyse it and realise he often uses imperfect rhymes without changing the consonants aka lazy rapping e.g I’m an inimical lyrical criminal individual performing spiritual miracles blah blah.
When compared to something like uneven compromise:
“ Remember how I used to live extravagantly
White Jays, scuff free, with immaculate steez
Stacked Gs, cop keys like they was practically free
Now I'm scrambling these streets in this raggedy tee"
But flow and delivery > complexity and Denzel does excel at that

Yeah I think we agree, Denzel for alt party music is always good tho
|
| |
Yeah idgaf what Denzel has to say cuz he never had shit to begin with. He is strictly brain off music for me but this still feels like a reach.

Can't imagine not loving this. This is a throwback to old school Doom and 90s rap with distinct modern elements. Only wish it were a few tracks longer but every song on this rips

wtf happened in here

Cosmic is incredible but I think Pyro is my favourite
|
| |
Not saying it isn't enjoyable just feels detached... Maybe a bit too obvious of an homage
|
| |
I think it's a blatant homage but that doesn't affect my enjoyment of it, if anything it elevates it. Wish we had more homages to golden era rap. It does a lot to still fit in with contemporary rap too tho

I totally get the appeal of Denzel's style but at times I listen to his bars and I'm like "Really? Donald Duck, Donald Trump, What the Fuck?".
Also get how if you are really into Denzel that Maxo Kream's laid back bars feel like he's sleepwalking through tracks.

"wtf happened in here"
sach, then he got nuked

Yeah I have to pause every once in awhile at Zel's bars but usually I'm able to shrug the corniness off

There are enough rappers who have just as cheesy bars without the crazy flow and charisma though so at least with Denzel you can sit back and be impressed with the speed at which words are exiting his maw
