I appreciate the fact that every album these dudes release is a refinement upon the last.

I'm shocked to say that I think this is much better than their last one. Brendan was right, they've never been better at writing Counterparts songs

Is it me or is there a lot more chug a lugs and breakdowns on this album compared to their last few. I like em, but kinda wanted more engaging melodies and cool riffs.

There are quite some breakdowns yeah, but there are also a shit ton of great riffs in here as well.

I’d say there are still a fair number of melodic riffs for me in here; they’re usually just a small part of a lot of things going on at any one time, which I prefer for their sound.

If you like melodic stuff more separated and less mashed into chugs and screams or at a slightly slower tempo, I’d say Shai Hulud are still the undefeated champions of that style

There was one part that sounded just like No Servant of Mine.

Their cleans are a bit of an acquired taste in my eyes, but with them being sprinkled in over the course of their career I’ve come to enjoy them. My only complaint is that I wish Brendan had more highs and lows, even though his mid-range screams are powerful regardless. When they play live he hits some nasty highs. I also know Tyler can growl pretty well so hearing that would’ve been interesting I think.

Yeah I'm surprised the avg is this high. It's nothing new for them at all. Sounds just like their past two albums, but a little more chuggy
