"second favorite drumming record"

YES. I was hyping the drums on Kodama but it was a thankless and lonely task, so thanks for this.

It's a shame that some people don't seem to get this record.

Looks like you weren't impressed with the album, I'll take a peek.

idk, i think alcest did the right thing making a far more direct, consistent record after such an tonally ambitious one. i wouldn't say it's better than kodama since it's a 5 for me but i'm perfectly happy with it. i don't understand how the album bleeds into one, either - each track to me sounds distinctly different.

Neige said in an interview that they tried to keep the music spontaneous this time around. It was to be expected there wouldn't be a big change this way, but it made the record really visceral. Love it

@DarkNoctus: agreed so hard. It was the right step at this point. They should do something else next time though

The more I listen to this, the more I'm inclined to bump it up 0.5 and Kodama down to a solid 4.0.

It is crazy good. Bought the disc today, going in the player tonight or tomorrow, spending some quality time with this thing over the weekend ♥

Surely Kodama is the fivest five to five for at least five years.

L'Isle Des Morts could easily have been on that.

Oh and yeah wanted to comment on the drumming too, so good. Great sense of flow.

winterhalter has really evolved as a drummer. i used to honestly find his drumming really placid and boring but since kodama onwards he has fucking killed it.

Personally think the album sucks. Though will happily admit I've only heard the majority of tracks a couple of times.

It doesn't 'suck' by any means but it's a whole lot of let down.

Whoa a 1.0 is super harsh dude! Nocte's 2.5 was edgy already.
