The best songs on Maps >>> Terraformer > Maps as a whole >> Stranger Heads Prevail on the real

I keep trying and I keep failing. I'll give it a ghost 3 on musicianship alone though.

I don't think they will ever quite top Maps, but I still thoroughly enjoy everything I have heard by them.

Was only able to listen to 75% of this today but damn the technicality is off the charts. Guitarist is easily a rising star in the game.

Some cringe lyrics on Everyday Ghosts for example, but it's ok I can live with it

This entire album is unreal. The craftsmanship and artistry on display are so captivating. The brutal technicality juxtaposed with airy and floaty cuts later on the album give this such an engaging diversity in sounds. Love the mix too. Legit just crazy front to back.

the mix, really? it's crystal clear for sure but there's no low end...

I see what you're saying but theres also a lot of high/mid instruments and vocals and I think if they bumped up the bass too much more it could be distorted, bloated, or out of character.

A MILLION ASSHOLES

The drums are the weirdest thing in the mix imo

The vocalist sounds like a mixture of Claudio from Coheed and Thomas from Fall of Troy and I mean that in a negative way. Instrumentally though, this thing absolutely fucking slays and I'd much prefer if this was just an instrumental album.

On the 3min mark of Chromology "A little bit of chrome....chrome." and it suddenly feels like I'm in a cowboy bebop episode

I like this a bit better than their 2016 release. But I still think they're way overrated on this site.

Is this a good album to start with if I do not know this band?

I think any of them could be a jumping off point, for me it was Stranger Heads but since there are only 3 I'd start with Maps or even The Perils of Time Travel

This band is parody of prog rock right?
