I might have to try your suggestion Point1. Cause this is the sound of something I would enjoy, I just can’t get invested at all. I do like Harmony Hall quite a bit though.

i understand the criticism on this but i still really love it after a few listens. it definitely satisfies my craving for new material without disappointing at all. i wish the album was a bit tighter and tracks 12 to 17 could be removed without me being too upset, but it still has highlights all over it for me.

unbearably white and hold you now are maybe the most beautiful songs theyve ever made aside from hannah hunt.

Yeah if this could have been trimmed down to a 10-12 track LP it could have scored higher for me, as long as they kept the best and scrapped the fluff

I feel the same way about this that I feel about a lot of cheery pop-punk albums; it's kind if skill-less, but fun. I'll spin it without reservation and enjoy it but it won't come close to my year-end list.

I really like this, a bit messy, but enjoyable to listen to

It's not Modern Vampires, but I like most tracks on here. Sympathy and the closer are great in particular, and I love the Haim features. tbh the only songs I don't like at all are My Mistake and Spring Snow. I really detest those tho

listening to this. didn't see that koenig cited kacey musgraves as a big influence. interesting

it's a funny touch lol, strikes me as classic vampire weekend. it's sort of dumb and possibly irritating but I get what they were going for somehow

Yeah there's a lot of country pop moments here

I also definitely see a sort of philosophical influence coming through, although I probably tend to overestimate that stuff (year-end writeup etc.)

he talked about wanting to narrativize people's entire emotional stories--they always had tales about other people in their songs but they still seemed sort of fundamentally solipsistic/reflexive whereas he really is trying to "point outwards" here I guess

or maybe it's just general kindness replacing a bit of acid wit

I don't hear the country very much outside of the Haim features.

The general lyrical vibe of "here's a snappy lyrical template, now to fit in some tight phrases" recurs a whole lot I just noticed. But I kind of like it.

This grew back on me again. 3.5 seems fair, it's really not that bad.

This has aged well over a week because I've forgotten it for the most part and that's an improvement over remembering it.

Might be the key to success with this one.

Still haven't bothered listening to this... Part of me want to just pretend they called it quits after Modern Vampires.

you'd do well to just jam the singles. full thing is middle of the road but inoffensive

oh i;m not even sure I was either/that I know what "MOR" means generically/genre-wise. but there's something uhhhh genteel about this album. VW were always "mannered" but this one's different. it sort of makes me understand what put certain people off from Golden Hour
