I think his style is starting to wear on me. I've rated his earlier stuff in 4-4.5 territory and I even really enjoyed last year's EP, but I found this album to have a slight dip in songwriting and creativity - and since it treads such similar ground to earlier works, the diminishing returns really affected my rating.

I'm bumping this stunner. Absolutely his best since Wild Hunt. "All I Can Keep Is Now" is just gah.

@BrandonT - this just gets better over time for me.

Yeah I did not expect to be such a fan of this. It could be circumstantial and I’m identifying a lot with the content but there is a lot of gorgeous material here. Right now it’s a top 10 of the year

It was a top 15 before. It's a possible top 5 now. "Hotel Bar," "New York," "Stranger...," and " All I Can Keep...." are some of the best songs he's ever written.

I still think the Running Styles is my SOTY. Or perhaps just under Hansard's Weight of the World. They're close.

Who do we turn to when the day is done? Will there be people in the bar, or should I sleep?

The Wild Hunt still takes it for me but I think this has reached second best. His work is so consistent they're pretty much interchangeable.

This is my favourite as well. I think it's instrumentally more interesting as his earlier stuff and more consistent and balanced as dark bird
