Thanks Drsmith and I love your comment about the wandering pathos. One of my favourite feelings listening to modern Weezer is the random untelegraphed moments of emotion that catch me totally off guard, like the bridge of Honest hitting you with sympathy for the asshole narrator out of nowhere, or (god knows why) the "have a nice life" bit on Piece of Cake lmao

You are hand's down one of the most talented writers on this site. Most people want to see you write about valuable music, or at least have the balls to stand-up for why you think an album is good when literally everyone is saying otherwise. You are talented at putting pleasant coat of paint on a steaming pile of horse shit.

This whole review is me standing up for why I think the album is good? It's literally 1000 words of said? I can go comment by comment through the negative stuff in this thread and reply "refer to x section of my review" if you like but that feels like a waste of everyone's time when, honestly, I have no idea what's happened to make you get this mad in the thread of every review I write. the prozac doesn't always work

I was initially kind of disappointed, but this is actually growing on me. I really feel like Weezer has put out a rather respectable string of records since Everything Will Be Alright In the End, including Pacific Daydream. That album got waaaaay more hate than I felt it deserved (other than maybe Feels Like Summer).

That being said, I would love to hear the initial version of this album that they cobbled together. I did take their interview to mean that they scrapped most of what that album was to put this together rather quickly (especially since California Snow was not originally meant to be on this album). I'm excited to hear the other stuff they've been working on, but this album was really nice. "Byzantine" and "I'm Just Being Honest" are some of my favorite Weezer songs from this decade.
