How does this compare to their first two and in shallow seas?

in terms of quality? vastly better than weak's end, probably just a bit behind In Shallow and The Question
in terms of style? Imagine a less screamy version of the second half of The Question -- less rigid song structures, more eclectic, more thought-provoking lyrics that aren't just about relationship angst

Awesome, gotta check then. Been a while since I was excited for an Emery album.

Will I like this? Will I be indifferent? Will I never check this out at all? Will I still give it an average rating because I didn't feel like giving it a chance?
Only time will tell ...

An Atari 5? Man, I just don't see what ya'll are seeing with this one. Tried it again yesterday and it mostly floats by unmemorably.

On my last listen Shame was definitely a standout so there's hope yet. I'm gonna revisit it every now and then over time.

I despised Shane at first, now it’s one of my favorites

I’m 5’ing for the simple fact that this album is perfect to me at this specific point in my life. Who knows what I’ll think down the road, but the lyrics + meaning behind this album are exactly what I needed right now
also just trying not to take ratings too seriously these days. It’s impossible to say if an album will hold up as a classic years from now, all that should matter is that it hits all the right notes at that moment in time

I agree, 5'd that Ghost album for the same reasons you mentioned Atari.
