I've actually heard these guys before today and totally forgot. Someone recommended them to me because I'm a Thrice fan and I think they said these guys were highly influenced by them (?) and after two or three songs, I immediately nope'd out. Gave them another go today after a different friend was singing their praises, completely forgetting that it was the same band. That said, I'm on my third listen and I definitely like this and it'll probably just continue to grow on me.

I have only listened to a bit of this, but I don't remember disliking the cleans.

C'mon, guys, can you really be mad at vocals coming from the mouth attached to that mustache?

They're not bad, just feels like so many bands are doing the over the top operatic cleans+just not my taste

These vox feel a lot further away from what you're describing. Part of the reason I enjoy this is that it's not as bombastic and intrusive as post-hardcore can be--at least, those that went to the school of ALLB / Hail the Sun. Not to say either of those acts are bad (on the contrary, to be honest), but their successes have led to an army of mimics.

This guy certainly isn't that dime-a-dozen screaming tenor that every band seems to dredge up nowadays.

I think the thing with the vocals is their recording and mix placement. They're too high in the mix, while the instrumentation kinda gets lost behind them at times

I mean, if they were not so upfront there would not be such a cheesy feel to them sometimes

I also don't think Will's vox are nearly as cheesy or intrusive as are 90% of his peers.

Furthermore, he is extremely dynamic and has great range, and he really uses that to push their musical output beyond many of those generic post hardcore bands

Once again I refer everyone to the debut to make it super obvious that the production here is trash
