"Gmember is completely right. Saying she's an industry plant isn't commentary on her talent, just on the industry connections she used to get ahead of her peers."

this is exactly my point, and even though phoebe clearly has talent I also think you can argue it was clearly elevated some by her connections. I honestly wasn't even aware of ryan adams being her producer & what not which had to have a impact. I imagine Tomberlin may have had more ideas to flesh this album out sound/production wise, but just didn't have the resources to do so on her own.

Personally i love this albums stripped down approach though, and it will be interesting to see how her next release sounds now that she has a bit more of a following.

this sounds a lot like a more stripped down Bridgers, I think that's actually fairly accurate

Yet I think I'm starting to like her voice even more than Bridgers'. There is smth special about this girl. I don't know what it is.

Yeah man, I connected with this album in a deeper way I did with Baker or Bridgers when I first heard their respective debuts, for some reason.

Well Bridgers was like a 3.9 for me at first and now every time I listen to it I debate 5ing it lmao

I arrived late to the Baker hype train so when I discovered Bridgers I was pretty hyped. I remembering adding her album to the database thinking nobody would care about her or disregard her album as a Baker copycat.

And here we are now lol

That's so cool I didn't realize it was you who added her! Yeah I weirdly remember thinking she was too similar to Baker but now they sound nothing alike to me lol

Yeah man, honestly it didn't take long until she became a phenomenon around these parts. At the time I could only compare her to Baker but in retrospective yes, they are fairly different, and the same happens with this lady here.
