Faux-experimentation: to masquerade as if you are pursuing new sounds when in reality you are targeting a select group of consumers with a deliberate approach in mind to be hailed as 'experimental' by the Pitchfork-types by merely producing what everyone now associates with the word: glitch beats, discordant song structures, oh wow - this must be experimental.



I'm defending my wording more than my actual opinion though; I'm at work and have only listened to this exactly once (this morning, on my way to work) so I'll gladly cede to others who have better context and have heard this time and time again. My first impression is just that, and very possibly a shortsighted perspective liable to change with additional listens. That's why I've refrained from rating this.

I'll admit in a few of my reviews I've done the faux-(insert genre here) descriptor but for some reason that phrase just cracks me up
