@Mythodea: Communication Lost didn't blow me (though the title track is an absolute fucking monster). I'll still be picking up the new one for sure though. Excited for it--I've got a good feeling!

@Omairsh: The Light and Shade of Things slays my soul. Ray delivers on all levels here. ALL.

I'm not fond of Communication Lost either. Couldn't get into it. Will try again someday now.

What is this Wolverine band that you're looking at? I checked Apple Music and only found some hip-hop albums.

ha ha. They're better than they were and it's hard to give up the integration.

Man the Rush-like chrod progressions in Seven Stars and the middle part of SOS is nothing short of great.

There's still a very good chance. No keyboard player, no cheese, no stolen riffs, no James LaBrie.

This band is overall way better than Dream Theater.

I was a pretty die-hard DT fan, but over the last couple of years Fates won me over with their consistency especially around Darkness in a Different Light. If anything John Petrucci and co. should listen to FW and Redemption 24-7, to understand and realize how to make non-indulgent, non-repetitive actual prog metal in the 21st century.

This is indeed a more consistent band and I'm starting to enjoy their stuff even more as of late. But nothing of theirs has topped Metropolis Pt.2 for me yet.

My favorite Wolverine by far, is Cold Light of Monday, the albums that followed are not as good imho (haven't checked their new album yet).

, @Willie, Flug: Well Kevin Moore features on a few albums, so FW isn't completely devoid of keys, but they're mostly used to enhance the atmosphere

"no James LaBrie"

:D Ray is a superior vocalist no doubt
