I love your passion Lambs dude.
Something that died with Eminem a long time ago.

dude his earliest music was all a marketing scheme based off of the Slim Shady persona, he is way
more passionate about hip hop on this album than SSLP or MMLP
none of you can appreciate this bc 1) you are being too uptight and aren't even trying to have fun
with this album
2)groupthink
3)you never learned enough about eminem to know whats noteworthy about him; you used to just like
him
for the shock value of his Slim Shady stories.
whats really noteworthy about him is his insanely technical rhyming style that still conveys an
intelligent and interesting message to people who really focus in on the lyrics; and his wit in
general - I really doubt you are picking up on even half of the double entendres, symbols and
references hes making here.

The main prob is a typical Eminem tune will explore nothing but himself.
1. Me
2. Me fucked up
3. I'm fucked up me
4. Things that have made me fucked up
5. Me trying to be less fucked up
6. Reasons for me being fucked up
7. Is there hope for me being less fucked up?
8. I can't help being fucked up me.
9. Your to blame for me being fucked up
10. Me fucked up (reprise)
11. I'm ok me.
Chuck D it ain't.

Yeah, true he is not as politically relevant as Chuck D and is much more egotistic, but compared to
modern artists, Kanye.... Drake... he is like a Rap God
Rap God

The reason why its interesting to hear about eminem complain about himself is because its brutally
honest introspection and expression, and he does it in a crafty way that makes the darkest thoughts
relate-able to the average person.
His earlier stuff was the exact opposite: made up violent stories that were purposely trying to be as
shocking as possible (that was the purpose of D-12)
|
| |
It was interesting once.
He has become a parody of the parody of the parody he was once parodying

Yeah well thats the difference I think: you liked his older stuff's made up lyrics because they were more interesting; i appreciate his giant improvements in honesty, optimism, and wit.
its basically the difference between preferring to read fiction over non fiction

If Eminem isn't Slim Shady, then who isn't not Slim Shady?
Christians 0
Atheists 0
Chuck D 1

When it comes to music, it's the real deal for me every time mate.
Music is the great connector and when it's conveyed with honesty, passion integrity and with a purpose then it is timeless.
Fictional - Will end up in the bin at some point.

"pretty arrogant to consign my tastes to groupthink when I'm usually surrounded by people who love
eminem in college but ok"
good thing i didn't do that, I gave three reasons, you only acknowledged one because the other two
are true lol, in fact the "you are too uptight" part you have already demonstrated to me as true.
