imo Battle for the Sun and Loud Like Love aren't bad in whole at all, some of my favorite Placebo tracks are from them (Julien, Begin the End, Loud Like Love, Kings of Medicine) they just each have a few cringe/"for what purpose" inducing lyrics (my computer thinks im gay; then pick your nose; I, I, I, I, I, I, I will blah blah blah blah blah x100 ) atop a few abysmally harrowing duds (Devil in the Details, The Never-Ending Why & Scene of the Crime off the top of my head.)
Honestly I think Meds has some piss poor moments as well but it has far more brillance.
