I liked what Disservices was trying to do, but I think he could've organized his songs more

efficiently. Like, in the first two songs the blasts didn't sound fast enough to go along with the

guitars, and the last track didn't have enough oomp to justify its length.

...with this album he just sorta awkwardly shoved bluegrass and folk into black metal, without the

great transitions of Collapse. I think he might eventually write Collapse II, so we have that

to look forward to eventually, I guess. That'll prolly be in like 2015 though, heh.

Gave this another listen before bed last night and I'm just going to put this down for a few months and come back to it with a fresh ear. I'm truly disappointed that Lunn could release such boring material.

So I've come back to this album and I have this to say about it now (and upped the rating). Basically, I erased all of the folky tune filler on my itunes and left the black metal tracks. It seriously improved the quality of this album and advise anyone who was disappointed to do the same.

Still not that great though. Hopefully his collab with the dude from Wheels Within Wheels will be better. Sposed to sound like Weakling, or did as of a few months ago.

The black metal is easily the worst part of this.

It's kinda generic, yeah. Same thing he's been doing, only oddly placed between folk music.

yea I really like this actually... I know a good portion of the album is rather disjointed (although the bm and bluegrass are both very enjoyable on their own), but Bodies Under the Falls incorporates both styles rather seamlessly imo. Can't believe that song hasn't gotten any mention throughout the review/thread.

i do that pretty often (rate an album 4, stop listening to it after the first 1-2 weeks and realize it's more like a 3-3.5)

Couldn't disagree more with this. Fantastic album. 'Bodies Under The Falls' is one my favourite black metal songs of all time.
