I get the impression that this is their "sad" album which would explain why I dig it so much. Living and Dying floors me

2:10 into Evening Wind oh man that's the kind of music that can change a day's mood

The moody orchestration was mainly because of Uli Roth. At the time this album was recorded, he hadn't fully developed his skills and his solos were mostly based on pentatonic and minor scales. By the time the band hit the studio to record "Virgin Killer", he began incorporating more advanced compositional elements. That's why the next two albums feel more "exotic" and middle eastern.

Still, he was an exceptional guitarist.

Evening Wind is credited to Roth alone. However other songs I love like Speedy's Coming don't give credits to him. I often praise early Scorps thanks to Roth but in truth maybe I should wonder how much influence did Schenker actually have

Yeah I wondered the same thing sometimes. One of my fav Scorps songs, We'll Burn the Sky, has one of the best solos ever... But Roth wasn't credited at all for that song, Rudy Schenker wrote it

I was refering to Roth's solos, not his songwriting output. It's true that many songs (the riffs) were written by Schenker, but imo it was actually roth's solos and guitar fills that elevated the songs. Also, Evening wind is most certainly not the only song that roth solely wrote. Night lights is completely his creation.

Trying to learn Night Lights on guitar... Very fun song to play, there's so much emotion in there too, I can feel it with every lick I learn

I've learned it so many years ago. One of the easiest songs i've learned to play, but it's so brilliant.

Any tips on the tone? I've played bass for 6 years but just picked up the guitar and everything I play sounds shrill as hell.

I want the next evangelion movie to use scorpions "fly to the rainbow" rather than "fly me to the moon".

4.2? Jesus christ, this album is so bland (especially for the scorps). Also the instrument tones are horrible.

At least Longing for Fire is good and Top of the Bill is not bad.
