" It's an intense record. Much more adventurous production than anything we've previously done. And I wanted to explore certain areas of seemingly off-limits territory like the relationship between rap and black metal, along with a new compositional and production technique that I call Integral Tremolo."

" like the relationship between rap and black metal"
I don't even... what?
If there's rap on that album I can't believe that it will be listenable at all. Just wow.

I agree with Spirit and Oltna. A step in a different direction for black metal, it's fresh. I agree that it needs some fine tuning, but it's not THAT bad, I feel a lot of passion in the more black metal-y parts.

yeah this has a lot of really weird and at times bad stuff here but when they get it going on tracks like returner and glory bronze the sound is still really cool imo.

there are definitely decent moments on this, if they trimmed the fat i don't doubt they could make a good album

There's one track on here (whose name I forget because I never listen to it) that's actually pretty cool, but the rest seems to be either unremarkable or just awkwardly pretentious (pretentiously awkward?). I think "burst beats" are an interesting idea that could be really cool if applied correctly (so kudos on that), but I don't think this band can really pull them off. Deathspell Omega I could totally see owning the burst beat, but not so much Liturgy.

even ignoring the whole 'burst beat' i just love the drumming on here and the general rhythmic sensibility kinda carries things. i'm also just a fan of some of their riffs i guess. anyway they just put out a new track that isn't black metal or really metal at all. digging the instrumental a lot but the vocals are uh... hmm
