It's not the longest he's went between albums (12 between Beehive and Dead Bees) although I've speculated he has these periods where collaborates a lot more than he works on his own stuff. It was the case after Beehive and Blemish, after all.

Yeah I guess I know what you mean but it still pisses me off. At the same time you:
1. respect Sylvian and are against people claiming his new direction is shit
2. are not interested in his new direction and disregard it as mere side projects

fripp have you heard chasm by ryuichi sakamoto? amazing album with one of david sylvian's best tracks on it, definitely an album i consider a masterpiece. and it has an atmosphere that is similar in its electonic and ambienct sound to Blemish

first off, if he ever does another record I hope he finds some new collaborators. that bag of crap players he used on manafon was an epic fail. the stuff he did with his brother steve is most balanced. he's david's guide dog and keeps him on the rails



second, his manic twitter/facebook postings have indicated taht he is done making music and wants to focus on travel & photography. and there is no evidence to the contrary. everything that has recently been released was recorded 6-8 years ago. and do those poems really count?



AaS is correct, Chasm is a beautiful thing. You might also like the new one Async. It has a 8 year old DS spoken poem and is one of the few recent things that has worked. I would say study the Sakamoto catalog. Lots of rewards there

@egad he did release a collab album in 2014 (only 3 yrs ago) and it was a very long release and meticulous, so i don't think he's done for sure with music. unfortunate you don't enjoy this but i'm very pleased you love chasm; what an album. i definitely think that world citizen is one of sylvian's most gorgeous songs.

just because i consider it a side project doesn't mean I have disregarded it, and if the credits tell me anything, it is a collaboration. It isn't solely him who wrote it, you can't even say that for this or Blemish, which even with outside influences, were still very Sylvian like records
