Gotta try this again and see if anything sticks.

I tried that after a 6 month break and i only liked the instrumentals sections more.

The way this thing derails itself after the title track is kinda impressive. That song promises doomy hardcore and then the rest of the record kinda does anything else, which is all kinda bland. Idk, I guess Viscera and Crimson are kinda good, too. I just hope Bloodmoon II is less of a grab bag of styles.

that’s actually what I really love about it. It feels like them throwing everything at the wall and most of it sticks for me.
But yeah, a Bloodmoon II being a little more sonically cohesive would make me a happy man. I’m honestly just so down for whatever Converge wants to do at this point, whether it be the core boys or the Blood Moon version.

I would love them being experimental if it felt like they were operating as a unit. The record as is comes off as the clashing of three different artistic visions.
It's not a bad record, just not cohesive. And I will likely bump a few of these songs on the reg.

yeah I get what you mean. Like there’s really only a few songs that feel like they all really put their heads together and came up with it as a unit. The title track is for sure one, I’d say Crimson Stone is definitely another. Coil is absolutely one of them too, I don’t see anyone laying down that instrumental on any of their individual records.
While Lord of Liars is an absolute banger and one of my favorite tracks here, it really is just Chelsea singing over some Brodsky and Ballou riffs. Scorpion Sting and Tongues Playing Dead are the biggest offenders of that kinda thing imo, the first just feels like a CW track with some really brief Ballou leads, and the second is straight up just a normal Converge song. It literally would’ve fit right in on Dusk in Us and nobody would’ve known the difference.
So as much as I love this project I totally see where you’re coming from.

Who knows when the new one will drop tho. CW just dropped her most recent record at this point.

I thought someone (Ben Koller?) mentioned they'd already started working on Bloodmoon II but now I can't find it aside from that vague Bannon quote late last year

The only thing I remember hearing about new material is Ben posting that it’s some crazy shit and Jacob made a post about some new shirt designs on Deathwish featuring Converge lyrics for songs that haven’t come out yet.
I don’t think we’re getting Bloodmoon II next but who knows
