I remember showing my friend this album awhile ago. When we hang out, we like to share songs from bands we like and also discover new music together. My only irl friend that's as into as music as I am. He obviously knew of Pink Floyd, but hadn't really heard much of them other than the hits and wrote them off as dad rock. I started playing the first song on here, but didn't tell him who it was. He was really digging it and kept trying to guess; "Godspeed? Agalloch?" I refused to tell him until just about after the vocals came in. I'm not sure if I've ever seen someone so absolutely flabbergasted in my entire life. He couldn't believe what he was hearing was the bad he'd seen countless stoners wearing shirts of. We finished the song, so I moved onto Welcome to the Machine. He was blown away. He kept saying how it was so much darker and emotional than he expected. After that, I was going to move on to other music, but he insisted that we listen to the entire album on the spot. He looked over to me, distraught, and said "I think these guys are better than Rush." This is coming from a guy who grew up on NOTHING but Rush. He'd seen them live like 4 or 5 times.
