I think they do it incredibly well, and have done so since their second album. At the very least they do it way better than most other bands of their ilk.

No you aren’t. I thought I was the only one lol. On this album several times it sounds like a 12 yo used a synth for the first time. “Oooo check out these wubs!”

the synths are mostly pretty good here and on its best songs (antimatter/offworlder) body anything northlane has made with marcus, but also their interludes are bad and on the last album were borderline comically useless. liminal is garbage lmao



until this record tho i didnt really think anyone else did the whole obsidian vibe in a way i liked bar nl. when erra try and incorporate industro influence (pull from the ghost, heresy) it sounds clunky and cheap
