is this gud? Won't get to it until tomorrow. Finally revisited City Burials because I couldn't remember anything about it except for Lacquer and Vanishers which were great. It's a solid but safe album. I only heard Birds off this and it feels like more of the same, I'm anticipating a 3-3.5

This album is sick, and Drab Moon being the weak link? No way man! Gotta disagree there. Good review though.

Thanks Nick! The weakest of very strong tracks for me but still a very good song!

Some parents have a nasty way of bringing up/teaching their kids. Obviously the long term consequences of this often have quite a different result than intended. Katatonia sounds good as always and they constantly have a way of making the dark sparkle with bittersweet nostalgia.

Haha I made it sound like my parents were some kind of sadistic tyrants but that's not the case. The dark room even became the playroom where me, my sister and our friends played for hours.

Anyway, don't wanna deviate the discussion, what's your favorite track here chippe ?

Yeah the opaline music video is nice.

The ocean drummer shows up a couple times and i thought WAIT I KNOW THAT GUY

and then they show the sign, didn't know they toured together.

Author is my favorite track by the way. Though it's tough to pick a favorite. Are these guys capable of making a bad album? Compare any other band of 30 years or more to their discography. They have to be pretty proud of their legacy at this point.

“Bad”? No. Subpar for them? Yes (see Dead End Kings and City Burials). Their subpar albums are still better than most.

damn teamster willfully setting themselves up to compare this disfavourably. talk about ways to be a toxic music consumer.

I kind of lost interest in Kat for the past few albums but this is WAY better than I expected. Early AOTY contender

Only jammed twice so it might still grow off, or grow more. But I'm impressed. Might be my fave since NITND

Ranking this band is getting tricky for me. Have to revisit the old stuff but nothing beats TGCD and NINTD for now.
