"Artificial Selection Part 3" [3]
Listened to Downtown Battle Mountain to see what all the fuss was about and realized I wanted to listen to First Temple by Closure In Moscow instead

unsurprising given that it was produced on autopilot two beers and half a bottle of wine down immediately before falling deeply very asleep at an hour where few good things happen :[
neek check Downtown Battle Mountain and/or Happiness, this band does/did have some tight shit

also yes, Happiness & self titled are GOAT for me. DTBM 1 is solid for nostalgia and the riffs and heavy and mess' raspy screams.
never cared about DTBM 2 or anything Tilian era (since 2013)
record is a hot mess as others have said. but i felt everything before this was too lol

This website has been full of snobs forever. Review isn't poorly written, but this album is not a 1.5.

Not disagreeing but its best to just not care what other people think.
This band is one that you either love or hate and it seems this site is tired of their shtick at this point. Plus the drama surrounding them didn't help. Everything that led up to this was a recipe for disaster.

I couldn't care less about the Tilian drama. Piece of shit, sure, but the industry is full of them. The frustrating part is that WISIRO-Instant Gratification all feel stylistically different. The band is having fun and try for a new vibe with each album. After the success of Mothership, it just feels like they've tried to recreate that album again and again and again and again to varying degrees of success. Also, the new DGD fans (Mothership/Post-Mothership) are really fucking cringe. I think many of us aren't burned out by DGD and their shtick, they're burned out by Tilian and the sound they've been sticking to for the last 4 albums.

Well said dude. Yeah I 100% agree with everything.
They're at a cross roads at this point of their career. Either they drop Tilian completely, find a new singer and reinvent themselves, or they call it quits. If they bring him back and drop Mothership pt. 5 next, then yeah they deserve all the shit in the world. Andrew was a nice addition to this album, but I don't see him taking on full vocal duties.
