I like Scavengers, Buried in the Sun, Still Life, and Dandelion Wine in no particular order. Much of the rest didn't stand out.

It still baffles me that Buried in the Sun is a “top tier” track for many
Musically it’s fine but the cringe lyrics are just way to much

Dreamer verses definitely resemble Less Art. Love it. Dreamer's chorus might be the least melodic thing I've ever heard though.

the only lyrics that made me cringe here was the chrous of Dreamer for some reason

Took a few spins, but I'm definitely feeling it now. Color of the Sky, Northern Lights, Scavengers and Still Life stand out thus far.

okay not ever, but it's very unmelodic for a chorus

Man there's nothing cringe about this after listening to Palms lol

I think the opening track is by far the best song on this. Really digging all the lil ear candy choices and the overall great sense for detail. Then, i don't understand the love for Scavengers at all.

Sowing's 5 point summary is mostly opinion, so people are either gonna agree or disagree obviously. I think Robot Soft Exorcism and Summer Set Fire to the Rain are incredibly catchy, but that's just me. The mix to me is pretty standard for them, except the bass is up louder in the mix here.
The album is just really mixed in how it's being received. Some people think buried in the sun is the highlight, I think the lyrics are super cringy and cheesy....same with The Dreamer. To each their own I suppose.

nah you're absolutely right lol, and yeah the chorus of Dreamer is a clunky gluggy mess that slows the song way down
I love putting this on my good headphones and being able to crank it way up without having my ears blasted with compression like their last 2. so many good details you pick out on repeated listens; the weird pitch-shifted vocal in Colour of the Sky, the piano sound in Northern Lights that's fucking clutch, the harmony vocals in the chorus of Still Life, all the ambient noises in Unitive
man this absolutely dunks on everything post-Beggars lmao it ain't close

I fuckin love Still Life

whoever said Soundgarden for Still Life was really on the money, like their slower 4th of July type cuts
"there's a whetted axe with a weathered handle and the weight of it is dear to me" is the best Dustin lyric/delivery combo in fucking years too

Still Life absolutely has SG vibes. Color Of The Sky is still my favorite on here, I'll take an album in that direction please

I've only spun this once but its definitely the best post-hiatus Thrice.

the polarizing opinions on this thing reminds me of how Vheissu was first received. This is not Vheissu by any means but Captain Civic is on the money with this being the best post-hiatus Thrice. Hopefully they can build on this and go on another solid run of albums like their earlier catalog.

I'd say TBEITBN is the most consistent post-hiatus Thrice. That album has a couple duds on it but on the whole it's a pretty thoroughly decent, head-bobbing rock record. This is more adventurous and interesting but there's more junk to sift through.

I don't think there's any overtly bad songs on this record, although some like Dreamer, Buried In The Sun and Summer Set Fire are average / clunky / by-the-numbers for them. Even their shittiest songs on Palms are still a whole lot better than a ton of modern rock and pop acts and this album is solidly better than Palms in almost every song.
