finally spinning this again altho I'm borderline delirious but here's a couple takes:
with Slex on Roots being a highlight, it's lovely altho wouldn't quite crack my top 3 (Ash Wednesday, Here is Where and a tossup between River/South Street)
Youngbloods is just so obviously the worst song here lol. what if there was a basic-ass indie pop song in the middle of this super intense odyssey and Nicky sang it with no passion or feeling whatsoever? song has no business being on this album
the sequencing is my other major problem and prob why I threw a 3.5 on this, having an acoustic song every other song gets pretty tiresome. they're still a good listen but kinda start to blend together, especially Your House Was Aglow
album's really great and a bit better than I rated it, but In Excelsis Deo is still their best song, more specifically this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9htrhVyuC0
