god if Marc was the screamer the entire fucking time Atreyu would have been quite a bit better. it's shocking how much Alex dragged them down, The Curse had some jams but they were always ruined by Alex.

pretty much every creative decision they made after Death Grip says otherwise. Atreyu were always a fun crap band and boi Alex was always a fun crap vocalist so

tbh Alex doesn't even carry that song, you do know they have their own clean singer?
|

Yeah Alex didn't seem to have very much at all to do with this band imo. I like to think the band let him make his metalcore that he can thrash to and then the band said ok can we play some good Ole fashioned rock and roll? And then ex's and oh's dropped and became the biggest thing for them at the time so they just went more and more in that style until Alex got mad he couldn't make a second suicide notes album so he left. This is truth until I'm proved otherwise.

that theory makes no sense considering how many albums they made from your starting point. tho im sure you are partially correct.

"you do know they have their own clean singer?"
boi Alex also contributed cleans from Death Grip onwards, including on that song. do not fuck with me on Atreyu history this is before your time and you're entering a world of pain

Lol I doubt it. But I do believe going the hard rock route was always in the cards for them. I mean they have a bon Jovi cover for the curse. That's not very metal at all wtf >

they were trying to make that kind of music the whole time they just sucked so bad it happened to end up being trashy fun metalcore =) on a serious note their Lead sails paper anchor era absolutely rules 5/5

It's crazy how low it's rated for pre-hiatus atreyu.
It might be time to just binge listen to the albums again. I really only know songs off death grip and suicide notes.
Update 1: the curse is way better than I remember, just a really solid set of good songs. Only a few I don't care for.

Alex is prolly the sole reason i was never as enamored with Atreyu as i was other bands in that same vein like Bullet. Matt wipes the floor with him.

lmao i will never forget the end of the bullet concert i went to and last thing matt said before going off stage was "if any hot girls want to fuck us come up to our van"

their van was literally parked outside the front of the venue and as i smoked a cigarette i watched two women go in the van. guess the band had to DP that night.

Best album since A Death-Grip on Yesterday, Alex was a poor vocalist at best, Brandon has carried the band with his cleans for years. So many anthemic songs on this album, it's fairly safe and it's not breaking new ground, but it breathes fresh much needed life in to a band stuck in a rut for over a decade. Feldmann on production gives it his notorious polished finish which works well on these types of songs.

They sound like Imagine Dragons, and I don't even remember what Imagine Dragons sound like.
