Prob a 4. But I also think the fun mood deceives and makes it easy to 3.5. I think the songs are huge and find their leads pretty unique. Like if you listen to their debut you get a normal/ standart osdm ahestetic/riff scheme, and with this a perfectly clear and defined ID, imo. Gotta love those little dirty arpeggios from under the grave.

I’m gonna try to refrain from immediately giving a 4 to any death metal album I come across. It’s still solid but I haven’t been compelled to go back to it at all. It’s interesting seeing non death metal fans say that this is one of the few death metal albums they can get into, and I don’t really know why that’s the case. Like if you’re not into dm and you like this there’s not much preventing you from getting into, say, Carcass or Morbid Angel.

Here's an exercise: whenever you think on dropping a rate just put it on again. Most of mine should represent how I live the moment and avoid those type of interstellar ranks (at least to a certain point).

I actually did this with Rina Sawayama’s debut and it went from a 3 to a 4.5 lol, so I get what you mean. Gave some of the songs here another listen and it’s still a 3.5 imo.

It was from Stereogum’s write up of it. The writer has mentioned before about how he’s struggled with getting into dm in the past. I get where he’s coming from but again if you like this you’ll dig a lot of other dm.
