All Hands is about the Great Molasses Flood of 1919: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Molasses_Flood I believe Rody confirmed it too on Discord.

from the sky is working for me, the intro and first vocal parts are too much fun to resist. "progress versus risk" hook is delightfully less wordy. bone marrow vibes. the half-time parts are neat-o. i'd actually love to learn this song, it seems really fun (and on that note, it's a fun throwback to have metal guitar playing in something resembling standard tuning). there's an almost djenty part in here, but it's fun. most of the song is the best version of "fun PTH" for my tastes if i surrender to cheesetown
also these folks did a smash up job of artwork and visuals. very cool.
i'll mention any other neat-o parts but i'll keep negative thoughts out from here on out because i think they're all taste based.

I'm only six tracks in but said to myself "If there's no review for this album, I think I need to write one." :D The singles were awesome, but I listened to "All Hands" and "The Fireside" driving to work from lunch and was blown the fuck away. I cannot wait to dive back in

so everything is so on the nose lyrically on this record
but i can appreciate little snakes for being very unapologetic about colonialism, especially because canadians bands are often smug about shit like that, ignoring that indigenous human rights are very domestic and current issues. granted the song's literal (and everything on this record feels SO literal) story is geographically about the dakotas, but hey, mount rushmore has always been in weird "pledge of allegiance" family of americanisms
edit: wow gardenias has best vocals, real big fan of what rody's doin here

agreed, fuck these guys for diluting something as indisputably cool as prog.

Also, Rody's vocals are different in tone and timbre (and execution), but I hope most people know that someone with this range, style and skill is a fucking unicorn. There are almost no vocalists who can perform the songs across this album with this little production help, period. To me, his voice sounds more strained and tired today, but his skill and technique have become even better.

I've never understood why people lose their minds over this band, and god damn those vocals are still annoying as hell.
