I don’t know how I feel about this review. If I were to read this as a person who’s ignorant about the current state of the US, I would probably left with a lot of confusion.
I appreciate references. Unfortunately, to me, this review reads like “this album is good because it comes out at the right occasion!” More than anything.

ooh I like me some hype

If you were ignorant about the current state of the US you probably wouldn't be reading this review either Aberf lol

Starts and finishes strong but the middle section gets real samey. Most I’ve liked RTJ in a while at least
|
| |
Rtj is still the best rap crew around. Couldn't be a better timing for this release

Damn, the first spin was amazing. Best thing El-P has done since Fantastic Damage, at least on par with I'll Sleep. Best RTJ for sure.

top tier sput review.

@Dewi, I’m trying to imply my sentiment on how the review tried too hard to draw a connection between the writer’s personal life and the current state of affair upon describing the album, which comes off as weirdly unnecessary.

Only if you're forcing yourself as a reader. For example, are you trying to deliberately ignore the media to which the context derives? How a reviewer approaches their thought process can be mechanical or it can be personal (often bridging both of those two major leads). How this review reads comes from personal opinion, perspective - wrapping the "how" it feels with context and then rating. What's not to get?

This is bangin yo.

I totally get it though. It’s an interesting take for sure. Yet, I’m more inclined toward johnnyonthespot’s comments (which he said it better already).

This is really good - I liked the last one a lot but this is duking it out with RtJ2 for best...I think 2 will remain my favourite but this has a chance.
The debut is the weakest mainly because the production doesn't have the same bite - it took the second album for them to realise they need to stay in 'battle mode' 90% of the time, it's their strength.

'Ooh La La' and 'Goonies' are instant RtJ top tier
'Walking in the Snow' is good but loses a tiny bit of steam
ZDLR is actually the best thing on JU$T, would have been a bit flat without him
'Calamafuck' is alright but sounds a bit too much like a couple of their previous tunes, still a little undecided on that one.

the verses on walking in the snow are fucking dope as hell

the beat switch on calamafuck makes the song, instantly one of the best songs on the album

Biggest weakness is the first 6 or 7 tracks is really all you need - usually the last track is indispensable...but this one is still great but the least impressive of any of their album closers
