Added this to my to-listen list a while back and finally got around to it. I'm nearly through my first listen and am enjoying it so far (leaning toward a 3.5, but could grow).

I've been getting into this country/alternative sound a bit more this year. I really liked the Honey Harper album (gave it a 4.0). I have The Drive-By Truckers on my list to check out. As well as Lamchop's album Is a Woman and the new Clem Snide release.

Anyone have any other recs?

You might dig Uncle Tupelo, they were great. Jeff Tweedy's old band. Not really like this but country/indie rock.

Those are all great artists, though Lambchop is about as far on the alt end of country as you can get, and Drive By Truckers are really more Southern rock than country. If you want something more like this (and with female vocals) I’d suggest you try Lucinda Williams, Neko Case, Kathleen Edwards, Amanda Shires, Brandi Carlile, and Emily Scott Robinson. There are plenty more where that came from too!

Thanks, Boney. I'll circle back with you for more maybe once I do get around to listening to all those suggestions.

Lilacs has really emerged as the best song here for me. I just love her vocal inflections on that track.

Great track, and its followed by The Eye, which also rules.... the little vocal flourishes in the chorus are so goooooood
