Why is the average so comparatively low?

Oh yeah I was talking best MDB albums earlier, I would put Trinity down as a top 3 MDB album but if you consider it an album or not, that's up for debate. It's a collection of 3 EPs after all (Symphonaire, Bloody Earth, and Naked Limbs).

I'm not digging this that much. Gonna give it another listen before I rate.

I've listened to it for about 7 times now. Overall feeling: I like it, but nothing really sticks. There is some great riffing, but I really miss some faster parts or a climax.
Maybe I change my rate after some more listening

I didn't return to it often so far, but it's a worthwhile addition to their catalogue.

Was expecting better after Feel the Misery tbh.
Still, Your Broken Shore is one of my favourite MDB tracks and the album is solid regardless.

this has proved not to have much staying power compared to a lot of their other albums. i think the vocals being heavily doctored (for mdb standards) and the drums being so lifeless have a lot to do with it - it just doesn't have the impact i'd associate with a mdb album.
has a good vibe when it's on but it ends there. the 3.5 is just because i have a soft spot for their sound.
