'cover art is gorgeous'
U rkn?

I thought that at first Potsy but it grew on me

There were moments that reminded me of why prehistoricisms was so great, definitely not devoid of good material but I just cant get over how much worse the vocals are. Also feel very neutral about replacement drummer. Tough shoes to fill tho, original buddy was one of the most interesting drummers in metal when prehist came out.

its Alex Rudinger on this tho isnt it?
that dude's definitely a top tier drummer going around these days
|

If that's the faceless guy then ya
He has the technical chops of course but not the personality. I'm not gonna deny his talent, it's just that he feels a bit stale or something.

Technical prowess means little to me without character, personally
|
| |
yeah for sure, agree entirely.
I havent heard this record yet so can't comment on it really, but I'm a fan of the guy in general :D
|
| |
These guys are post metal the same way The Ocean is post metal
So not really at all

I love this band but this doesn’t really get my juices flowing. Itll probably grow on me but fuuuuck some of the vocals in the verses are so cursed they could curdle milk.

This is just a lot of fun to listen to. It's pretty ridiculous and a bit trashy at times but also has some quality and depth.

Based on the 2 singles I'm really hesitant to jam this.
Considering TDOLT was my favourite album of that year...

I'm joining the 2.5 gang
I think I cringed myself into another dimension when the vocals in Tripolar hit

Also Rudinger has some memorable drumming on here but he doesn't really come close to the wife beater's creativity

I don't like the vocals but I don't understand how that is such a big deal for so many of you. I don't listen to music like this for vocal chops. I listen to it for parts like 3:57-4:07 of Check Your Misfortune where the drummer pulls one of the sneakiest moves I've heard. Love that stutter -> restarting the groove on the upbeat instead of the down -> sliding back into the original groove. So many cool moments like that between the bass and drums.
