Sometimes "outdated" can work when you aren't too hot on the direction the genre has taken imo and that's probably why this feels more fresh to me.

Tim still sounds great here but yeah...The Powerless Rise is king.

I certainly wouldn't call any of Tim's work here weak. He sounds a little worn but the power is still there, and I love his highs. But yeah, TPR is still their best work by a fair bit. Such a great album. The breakdown in Anodyne Sea is indeed very good, but I stand by my opinion that Crusades by August Burns Red has the best breakdown in the genre.

his drums are triggered harder than a soccer mom

That doesn't really mean anything. Drum triggers are industry standard at this point.

I recon your point venin

Really liking how "old school" metalcore is getting its revival with bands like renounced, sanction, revolve and so on.
Luckily this style of metalcore has been done to death by so many bands, that a lot of the shitty ones have already gone to waste

Really loses something after the first listen. Every riff is the same riff they’ve been doing for like 10+ years now and Tim sounds weak.

Choruses are really nice though

tbh this doesn't even sound old school to me. It's too clean and chorus heavy

yeah, the choruses bug me too. They are all structured the same way and I really liked the sound of their old bassist a lot more

This is cringe and I’m not even done with Blinded. Metalcore like this just needs to stop. This and Killswitch were so lackluster.

That dude on shadows had a far better singing voice imho.
Also the cleans were not so overly compressed and edited. Shit really grinds my gears

You're right. It wasn't him, but the guy on Shadows wasn't an actual member of the band.

I don't understand why they need to layer his cleans at all times.

There's only like 3 or 4 good songs on here. Only After We've Fallen kinda bangs. The rest of this shit is well...like I predicted it would be...forgettable and lame. And another thing. I HATE the clean vocals. Every time he comes in with a chorus it makes my nuts itch.

Everything on this album seems like it was written right after Awakened and then they just decided to use this and not write anything new when Tim got free.
