True but I think some of the songs themselves needed to be trimmed as well

"Dunno but i don't like the mixing at all. SHP sounds way better."
Yeah I've noticed this since they released FXMLDR. I thought it was just a rough mix, but no the production is totally different from SHP. I can't put my finger on it. I can't say it's bad or I don't like it, but SHP definitely breaths a little more.

Geronimo and Wrinkle/FXMLDR are sick. Nothing on here is bad. Not as immediate or accessible as SHP, maybe, but after having recently seen these songs performed live, it's clear they haven't lost a step. Easily one of my favorite bands to see live.

On my first listen I don't think there's anything negative I can say about this other than it's got fewer 'moments' than either of the last two albums. It's all very clean, well-composed, and well-executed but none of these songs really grab your dick and start tugging. Maybe on subsequent listens that will change.

It’s supposed to be a Doof 1.5 but currently that rating is blocked
Not anymore :D
We'll have to agree to disagree here though Doof - simply put, TYS make me happy, and after two listens I'm thinking this is possibly their best album yet.

I could never fully get into this band, too happy merry-go-round prog for me. They're good doing what they do though.

Just have a hard time seeing anything below an actual objective 2 for this band. They're so talented and amazing songwriters with melody and flow like no other. Even if you don't like the vox respect the other parts.

Anchor could be a SOTY contender.

This is true about the mixing. One of the reasons why Stranger Heads sounds better because the Snare drum and drums as a whole sound and are mixed much better. Terraformers drums get buried in the mix and the snare is super thin sounding. Which makes the whole mix sound weird. Sometimes the guitars sound off too.

Think my biggest problem with this is less the vocal tone and more the blandness of the performance. The obvious parallels with Coheed are really unhelpful because Claudio Sanchez never sounds anything less than passionate and energetic, which is the main reason they've managed to pull off as many ridiculous lyrics as they have. These guys' singer has nothing like that intensity and the cringey progcore lyrics sound especially naff as a result. Generally enjoying this slightly more though, some really good bits here for sure

Musically these guys are great, but man, I just cannot get past those vocals.

Vocals work well for me in the context of the music but I can totally understand why people would hate them

yeah I grew up on a steady diet of mid-2000s post hardcore so I'm used to vocals that are probably obnoxious in an objective sense
