the new song with Sharon Van Etten and Lisa Hannigan is a tribute to Scott Hutchison
it will be the cause of my demise

I still think that has literally nothing to do with the quality of the album on its own
Sure, but it affected my experience of it. On one level, I just didn't enjoy most of the other songs here nearly as much, and as I had already listened to the EP version quite a bit before this, those songs were already worn out to an extent so I didn't feel the need to invest in this too much. Listening to the album was also weird because I was already conditioned to view those other four songs in sequence from the EP, and it was disorienting to hear a song like "Hymnostic", which was the closer on the EP and worked extremely well in that spot, now randomly sequenced in the middle of the tracklist. If I had heard the album on its own first, I may not have these issues; my overall assessment of it may be the same, but the experience of listening to it was more disappointing this way.

I haven’t checked the singles yet, but with those collabs on the new one I’m very much pre-excited. Will be looking forward to those anais Mitchell songs especially.
