and honestly, the more that harsh and distorted sounds become popular or even culturally significant in music, that's probably a drastic step forward for the way people view harsher music

Afraid of some city ravaged hipster with a hard on for post-punk? Not likely. Afraid of the potential actions of a generation so confused about art that they’ll heap praise on such OBVIOUSLY SENSELESS SOUND AND FURY SIGNIFYING NOTHING
|
| |
lol "confused about art"
sounds like you're the one who's confused here
|
| |
Agreed, that is a baseless assertion.
|
| |
"Confused about art"
Art is still subjective, right?

Even the impossibly high expectations I had didn't tarnish this record. Warm wubs and groovy beats set to beautiful keys and other stuff like African bongos n shit and even some sexy vocals. Beautifully structured with transitions both subtle and exciting. My favorite tronic album from the first listen.

yes I'm getting old, sad part is I'm only 27. I really want to find modern pop I like though
'and honestly, the more that harsh and distorted sounds become popular or even culturally significant in music, that's probably a drastic step forward for the way people view harsher music'
good point on that though
|
| |
And another point, I hope this becomes very popular (because right now this is more niche popular), because even just the opening track has a pretty positive message poised together with insanely catchy hooks which is just great

I do like the opener and it would be the only reason for ever raising my rating

actually going through all the lyrics, they're all tackling a few diverse topics that I think need a lot more relevance in popular media. Yah, even Ponyboy

really hard to take seriously someone's concerns about this being indicative of 'cultural decline' when you literally only enjoy rock music

@foxblood if ya wanna find modern pop you like check out Pop 2 by Charli XCX. its got some of the most aggressive and forward thinking production I've heard in a mainstream pop artist in a long time. SOPHIE has production credits on one of the tracks as well (funnily enough the most accessible song on the album)
