But a five it ain't.
Honest to god they rock live now though. This material is kinda boring but they are absolutely worth seeing.

Trying to hard to sound like STP instead of just being STP.

Guitarist just got accused of domestic violence

Big bang baby, it's a crash, crash, crash!

"Meadow" is a decent song, tbh
Listening to this for the first time right now, and probably the new Alice afterward - it took me a while to wrap my head around giving either band a chance after the loss of Staley & Weiland, though I have spun Black Gives Way and liked some tracks quite a bit
The time Gutt was on X-Factor was actually the one year I had a "guilty pleasure" run with that show, probably one of my last years with cable as well, and I was rooting for the guy - gives him at least a few more points for me here

Truthfully tho, I wish the Deleos would just get back together with Richard Patrick and doing another Army of Anyone record or something, with maybe a few STP covers thrown in for the hell of it
That being said I should probably also get around to listening to the Talk Show stuff as well

"I wish the Deleos would just get back together with Richard Patrick and doing another Army of Anyone record"
^
This hard. The Army of Anyone record is leagues ahead of this. This is pretty forgettable although the DeLeo bros still have the ability and drive to put out great music.

Talk Show was pretty darn good. Check "End of the World".

I actually spun the majority of the record shortly after making that post - not bad
I love the production style of that era - Purple up through Shangri-La have a sound that in-your-face & saturated without being pointlessly pushed into loudness oblivion. Talk Show Host has that same kinda production (I'm guessing they got Brendan O'brien on board for that one as well?) and the resulting sound is just so beautiful w/ the Deleos & Kretz going into it

It was really a nice one-off, I dug that sound. Unfortunately the lyricism and melodies were just a little bland overall. Especially since I've always love the imagery Weiland evokes with his stuff.

Damn it only dawned on me, Talk Show is another DeLeo project? With Eric Kretz? Need to check.

Ya, STP but with a different singer but before they decided to just do that & call it STP anyway

Some pretty sweet jams on it agreed. Morning Girl, End of the World and Hello Hello are standouts for me at first listen. Ah, I really do love the DeLeo style...

STP was solid band from Core to Shangri-La Dee Da. Everything what they are doing now is absurd. It's just pointless and really boring rock album just to make money from keeping the name they established in the 90's with singer that is now gone. It's sad that Alice in Chains and STP still exist, they should let go long time ago

I completely agree

Yeah don’t drag Alice In Chains into this.
Their new albums are better than the majority of STP material honestly, even with Scott
