Bask is probably my favorite of the regular tracklist, and then Thurisaz is my fave b-side (although Amaterasu is damn close behind with its gorgeous, ethereal atmosphere).

It's the extended version. I think you can order it on their bandcamp but if not ask Freddie how he got it. I'd answer but I'm like VIP so I got all this shit weeks ago *puts shades on*

I pre-ordered thru Bandcamp but the band specifically told me they were gonna send me the extended version so idk if that's the norm. I'd pick Bask or Yume for the standard edition but Amaterasu is absolutely my favorite song, it has almost a dream pop feel to me and I think it's just stunning. Also I can't imagine hearing this album without the bonus tracks since they're integrated seamlessly into the regular tracklist and not just tacked onto the end.

True I absolutely love how they're integrated. I suspect that they cut the tracklist down to make the album more digestible for mass consumption, but I'll be damned if it isn't just perfect as-is.

Yeah Amaterasu might be my favorite but the placement of Thurisaz between Sundials and Birdless Cage is especially perfect. This is all starting to realllly come together as an essential whole, I'm obsessed.

Yeah it took me a couple days to realize it's basically the best thing they've ever done. I don't now why I'm putting off 5'ing it...I think subconsciously I want to avoid over-hyping it to an extent that it could never possibly live up to...but I probably already failed at that!

If you enjoy Brand New's music I doubt you'll be disappointed. Definitely check the singles first though, especially Bask which is an absolute ace.

Ashtiel you should totally just check out their discog, they totally have certain hallmarks within their sound they've honed but I think each release has something unique to itself. For me personally, this album is giving me similar vibes to Holy Vacants by Trophy Scars, except this is obviously much more serious/less campy

Hey Sowing, I'm curious, maybe you've just been listening to the FLAC version (I haven't been), but for me the female vocals in Yume are just barely audible in the background (tho they do sound gorgeous), are they clearer/more prominent in the version you're listening to?

yea i love me some brand new (science fiction was one of my top albums of last year) and i plan on going through their discography, possibly working backwards, but this hasn't been too shabby either! ill check out the rest of this band's discography when i can but atm im swamped in a lot of other stuff

so if i pre-order on bandcamp i get the album immediately?

@Freddie: No. They're very hard to make out save for a split few seconds that feel like a break in the clouds. I asked Billy who it is in an email about something else and I think he forgot to answer me, unless it's just like a girlfriend/wife of someone in the band and they for some reason didn't want to disclose her name.

@Ashtiel: It might have just been people that contributed to their Indiegogo campaign. But you can always ask them on their Facebook page. They're super responsive to their fans and nice, approachable people in general. If you can't get your hands on this album until Tuesday for whatever reason, I'd strongly suggest their first two EPs- His Old Branches and The Cartographer - and their debut LP Varuna. Their sophomore release is also good but in my personal opinion shouldn't be prioritized over anything else in their discography.

Hmm, interesting. I've honestly always thought their screams were a bit too low in the mix and feel the same in regards to those background vocals but I know thematically that's the point and eventually it's pretty easy to just sink into the whole/atmosphere. Also Ashtiel I'm nor sure you will receive it instantly or not, I honestly just asked the band if I'd receive it instantly or not and I'm pretty sure they were very gracious and instantly sent me the extended version instantly for $10

The key change directly after the bridge in Bask is fucking wicked and it just blows my mind how seamlessly the solo cuts out into the acoustic outro. There are so many special MOMENTS here I just wanna gush about

It's really wonderful this band has a fanbase that isn't leaking this thing, but I'm really poor right now, and don't even have $10 to spare, and listening to you guys talk about it is awesome and painful, and will the extra tracks even be available generally come Tuesday, and goddamn it. Just leak the thing. Thank you for not leaking the thing.
