idk that future islands album was mad boring might not check this

This was pretty good but nothing really jumped out to me on first listen.

There's definitely Sput-core stuff but I'd agree with Watch that the definition changes a bit based on what people are more active.

Don’t @ me Ali

pretty much everything on here deemed 'sput-core' is actively loved by massive amounts of people that are not on sput so
|
| |
no one has heard of thrice or brand new outside of sputnikmusic.com

Sputcore is anything that the userbase likes that I don't like
|
| |
I always thought of sputcore as sticking to a certain alt/post hardcore template (thrice, trophy scars, brand new)
literal sput-core

Yeah that's definitely the first stuff I think of when I think of Sputcore.

those bands were all huge on here around the time I joined, possibly overrepresented in ratings/reviews compared to other music websites

Yeah I'm pretty sure I've never seen Thrice mentioned anywhere else on the Internet.
|
| |
they are reviewed elsewhere obviously but there werent many sites where they were one of the biggest bands I don't think

I'd never heard of Brand New either before joining Sput though I've realized they do at least have something of a following elsewhere even if it's not quite as hyperbolic as it is here.

There are a few holdovers from the old days but this site skews pretty hard toward indie/hip hop and even folk these days it seems to me.
|
| |
if u never heard of brand new before sput ur probably an idiot

this album is like a sine wave quality wise...picks up hard around Phospholipid and Moon // All These Days and Coastal but the rest calmly float back into pleasant but forgettable indie pop
