I was shocked when I found that out. man, he's even a better vocalist than I thought.
and idk, I love a lot of the lyrics. I like how the closing track puts things in a different perspective. but it's often his performance that hits me

"a lot of these lyrics feel a bit immature to me"
thats a complaint i have for these guys as well, but this is emo so its par for the course. new album is solid, i pretty much like all of their albums about the same.

I feel like their lyrics simultaneously capture that "amateurish charm" but also reflect a stunning amount of self-awareness/reflectiveness...in particular the way he tackles his alcoholism and inability/lack of will to recover I find pretty compelling
Like it's very much their primary lyrical topic, but I do enjoy it anyway
The real travesty here is they still haven't made the new record available on streaming services in Australia yet (something something entitlement)

I think the new album is their best. The vocals have vastly improved, and I think the lyrics, while immature at points, show great self awareness and don't play up the "feel sorry for me" attitude a lot of these type of bands have. I really think this band is definitely going in the right direction and I could see them releasing a classic level album. They have the raw talent down.
