maybe they're boycotting Spotify like a lot of other artists are doing, who knows

I want to start listening to these guys. What is the best order? Do I go through all the Act records, then the other two, which EPs should I listen to, so forth? Also, how the heck did the band write 9 EPs and an album in the same year?
I don't really want to waste time listening, hence me asking. They have what seems to be a very good discography, but I'd rather listen to all the important stuff first and try other things later on. I haven't listened to a second of the band's output as of now, so I am very curious to take a look given the hype surrounding this.

This band should stick to folk and tone down the vocals and make a fresh start from there :D

Just go chronologically, I've only heard their first two so far and liked them a lot. II is better than I though for sure

If you start chronologically and like the Acts, go from there and just do the Acts at first.
If you try that and the Acts aren't really your thing, jam the whole Color Spectrum in order; it's much more immediate and diverse. Still their best album imo.

So I shouldn't continue in order, I should just jam the Acts?

If you dig 'em, I'd suggest that, but just until you've heard all the Acts. Afterward, definitely check out the other stuff. It's just that The Color Spectrum and Migrant are a huge step to the side and would disrupt the consistent vibe the Acts bring.
From personal experience, I actually started with those other two records and then marathoned the Acts, but that's cause they were the newest ones when I got into the band.

Violet EP is a decent and fairly digestible place to start. If you like it then go through the acts. If you dont like it then maybe jump straight to Act IV, followed by V, as theyre the most impressive works.

Peculiar how the singles got on spotify right away, but apparently the album itself is a problem

I can't comprehend why so many people think Act IV was weak. Best Act by far.

Wow, 4.5! Is this really THAT good?

I dropped it to a 3 toon
Act IV was weak mainly because of the third of it which occupies the position of worst songs this band have ever written. The rest of it was enjoyable

also doof the quiet folk songs are literally this band's worst songs so you're on the opposite side of right there (as per) :D
