I feel like hes going for that same effect that Garm had on Kinetic from Sham Mirrors, where he hits the high note at the end of the line he's singing.
"Our eyes were remoooOOOOOOVED"
"The distance too great for yoooOOUUUUU"
But he does it on every damn line, and it just doesn't sounds as cool as Garm doing it.

I really wanted to love this, but I almost never play it anymore.

Bump.
"Haha I don't really know much of him aside from this album so I could be full of shit."
Slightly. Plus he doesn't even do it all the time on this album.

One of my least favorite Arcturus releases.
Aspera Hiems Symfonia is obviously number 1, but I liked Sham Mirrors and even Sideshow Symphonies more. This was a bit of a let down.

Still, even their mediocre songs always have something interesting going on.

Jamming Sideshow right now and it feels way more consistent than I remember Arcturian to be. I am actually surprised to see the 3.3 avg

yeah man, I don't really get it. This is a solid 3.5 for me, and sideshow symphonies is a 4.0. That record is so much more interesting than Arcturian.

Yeah downgraded.
Sideshow reaches highs this album unfortunately never achieves. There's not really any goosebump moments here.
|
| |
it's aged ridiculously well and if anything, the very subdued sound that rubbed so many people the wrong way gives it this certain uniqueness that i learned to appreciate after their comeback album's extremely over the top approach to songwriting and mixing
evacuation code deciphered and hufsa are some of their best ever
