I thought so. I almost immediately compared it to Yellow Eyes. Still sorta mind-bendy with those melodies, but it was less all over the place than this album.

I don't even get a DSO vibe from this tbh.

DSO is to Dodecahedron is to this band. It's a few steps removed from dso but same sort of ballpark.

jammed this a lot since last 4 days. It definitely fits my metal tastes perfectly.
That double trem lead crescendo separated in left/right channels in "The Bright White Nothing at the End of the Tunnel'' at 3:00 is so amazing and epic.

Dodecahedron are great but this gets rid of some of the moments that dragged in that self titled

i just think all the experiments here don't work quite as well as the band meant

Which experiments? The thing that prevents this from being a 5 is Eternally Falling but that's it really

Honestly this is probably metal AOTY

So true but it's my overall AOTY so far. Maybe the Musk Ox album beats it but nothing else really comes close

black monolith all the way

Album Rating: 4.2
It's funny to think that I thought PC was AOTY when Lantlos, The Great Old Ones, Sleepmakeswaves, Gazpacho, Animals
As Leaders, and Behemoth all released albums this year. Still need to hear Black Monolith
