Okay, Emergent doesn't just rock, it's a masterpiece.

Emergent is incredible. One of the best songs in the genre. I don't know why more people don't talk about that song when they talk about this album (although I'm sure I did earlier in this comments thread). I like a lot of the album but that's the one song I always come back to.

The new album isn't bad but it felt like a step down from this.

New song Zelda is out. It's full on progressive rock with vocals. It's weird.

A real change from the debut but equally amazing. I wasn’t sure on first listen, but going through it again this sounds so good. I’ll never understand the love for Explosions in the Sky when you have have bands like this and Jakob and Caspian.

Sounds very promising, seems to be another nice atmospheric post-rock album, will check it out as a whole very soon.
(also need to find time to first-listen to Grizzly Bear - Painted Ruins, Frost* - Milliontown and Hecq - 0000)

yeah I already had 2 albums of Grizzly Bear and Hecq, both amazing artists. I had to check out a third one of both eventually.
After I listened to Love Of Cartography I have to say the early-morning-in-october-like atmosphere is similar to that of the album Scatterheart by Hecq, a wonderful album to sink into its world.
Only Frost* is new to me but so far I like the electronic sounds play a good role in the Milliontown album, I only haven't listened to it completely yet, only checked parts of every song.
So far I only listened to this sleepmakeswaves-album twice, both today and it's absolutely breathtaking. And I love how it takes me to certain imaginary places and futuristic worlds or even subway stations at night or big and cold warehouses. I'm thankful I discovered this album, only because I saw a review of a new release of them...The first two songs on Cartography even got my eyes wet (and the heavier part in the last song).

Only the 5th day for me with this album and the 10th listen and I already had to up this to 5.0.
Whenever I listen to this album I don't want to leave the world the atmosphere takes me to.
Every song is breathtaking in its own way (talking about the 8 main songs, the other two are too short).
Sometimes it makes me imagine a futuristic world where this album has sold millions of copies and the first two songs are already number 1 hits. And "How We Built The Ocean" was the last song on the radio there. If only it was real.

Congratulations Sleepmakeswaves!!!! Their album Love Of Cartography is ranked number 1 in my new list about last discovered albums and achieved an incredible 9.8 / 10 rating! After only 5 days of listening it achieved classic status, I just love everything on it (the 8 main songs, the other 2 are too short to count) and whenever I listen to it I don't want to leave the world that it creates. It is a much more positive planet I imagine also more progressive lifestyle and the
mainstream radio is full of the songs from that album!

yeah and I think there will be much time passing until I feel able to check out another album of them. It's over a month already and I still can't get over this album, discovered some amazing albums from other bands / artists since then but nothing comes close.

Favourite songs:
1. Traced In Constellations (5.0)
2. Great Northern (5.0) / Emergent (5.0) / Perfect Detonator (5.0)
5. How We Built The Ocean (5.0) / Your Time Will Come Again (5.0)
7. Something Like Avalanches (4.5) / The Stars Are Stigmata (4.5)
It's unfair to put any song on last place, especially when it gets a 4.5 rating from me. First listened to on July 20th, soon it will be 3 months since then and nothing has changed. I discovered many awesome albums this year but this album will be number 1 in my list at the end of the year. Nothing can beat it. Will never forget the first 8 weeks since my discovery of this.
