Also how anyone could listen to "Adhere" and not think of deafheaven may actually be *ahem* deaf

Ikr?? But did you like the track? I think it's brilliant, but that goes without saying.

"Think of a heavier Deafheaven with d-beats."

More like a more collected Plebeian Grandstand

agreed the last track is best but damn dude you need to bump up your rating for this. album is bm crust perfection apart from gold watch which drags a bit

Tbh, you're right, it's pretty good. Only ran through this twice and gave it an arbitrary 3.5 to remind me to listen again

Basic tremolo riffing, ambient tremolo lead melodies, minor post-rock experimentation. The bm bits are your standard, simple style with pretty basic chord progressions or w/e. Deafheaven ye.

reverse that and you're golden. Half of it's distinctly black metal, the other half distinctly crusty riffing with still black metal vox with the same atmospheric tremolos running throughout.

So good he had to say it twice. Given we've gotten to five pages I wouldn't say this has been that much ignored--at least in the beginning--but interest does seem to have decreased a lot. Oh well, still like my #4 of 2014 overall.

Black Monolith > Deafheaven

Hard to say if I really like this more than Judah, but right now it's still probably

Passenger > Judah > Sunbather

Ghost Bath have a new one coming out that sounds beautiful and got that Sunbather thing going on but I like the first track out a lot more than most of Sunbather, so...

And in terms of blackended hardcore crust whatever, Dark Circles also put out a fantastic record last year. Check their bandcamp if you really liked this.
