I like this a lot, but the production really bugs me. The guitar sound is just terrible.

Agreed - Really raw production that I don't like quite as much as the Eclipse - Skyforger Era.

Still, Amorphis just owns, and the songs on this record are awesome!

Not at all. The production is on the raw side on this record when compared to the albums I mentioned. Many reviews for this record mention this - Maybe we are all trolls? *Shrugs*

@dsroka005 - their sounds varies during different parts of their career. Personally, I love everything from Eclipse to present. And it's totally worth getting into, because they have a lot to offer on just one album! I would start with Silent Waters or Skyforger or Circle, and then go into Eclipse, but you shouldn't really listen to The Beginning of Times (even if it's a good album) until last. However, the albums before Eclipse have a really terrible vocalist but it they have amazing melodies. If you want, you should check out their re-recorded album of some their older material, Magic and Mayhem. And no it's not a butchering of their older material.

The best way I can describe their sound is melodic, progressive, death/metal/rock, with distinctive folk influences.

Not sure if it's raw or brickwalled, all I know is it's fucking annoying, and the reason why I don't play this as much as I should.

The guitars' production quality sounds the same off of their other releases. :p

I'm sure people can become deaf if listening to this on a crappy set of headphones.

There's your problem. You need to plug it into good speakers. I know my car's stereo makes the bass on Dark Tranquillity's Construct really annoying so you might just need to find a different way of listening to it.

That, or you need to find a 320 bit rate version.

That's it^^

@FictionalFlames.

That's not the case here. I have actually bought the physical copy (limited edition which rules btw) and listen to it on a normal stereo (speakers are not necessarly the best, but they aren't bad by all means), and still it gives me an headache after a while, especially if I play it loud ofc.

Oh well, it's all a matter of opinion. Though the album did take a while for me to really get into it.
