Most fun prog band to listen to?
Prob...
What I love about GG is that they don't take themselves too seriously, something that def isn't present in many of the other big prog bands. They're something like the Anthrax of 70's prog, if that make sense.

This band rules, but tbh, I don't know if I'd 5 any of their records.

def their best album, all their usual mad prog wankery on here but somehow manage to make it so catchy, genius

Fantastic from start to finish. What a collection of standout tracks!... Can't decide which one I prefer among this, In A Glass House or Acquiring The Taste. Free Hand is arguably the most consistent.

I love this, Acquiring Taste and Octopus,
don't know what it is about Glass House (also 3 Friends and Power/Glory), they all leave me cold

Except maybe for ''An Inmate's Lullaby'', In a Glass House is solid. While I dig hard all the rest, I confess that some of its songs didn't age that well. I can understand you with Three Friends which is probably too experimental, with lack of direction. It grows on you though, even if ''Schooldays'' and ''Working all Day'' are taking more time to digest.
Power and Glory started with a 3.5 from me, and it's now at a 4.5. ''No God's a Man'' but more specifically ''The Face'' are the weakest tracks. The rest is really strong. Octopus is nearly a five to me. It's arguably the most varied album. ''Dog's Life'' is the only left down. As a whole, it's not my favorite album to listen to from start to finish. Not sure why.
Acquiring the Taste is the one I'm never tired of. It's highly melodic and well balanced between heavy and calm passages. Kind of experimental, but it becomes quite accessible (in GG standards) with couple of listens.

All their stuff grows, it's so damn subtle though, im sure by the time i die i would 5 most of their albums if i gave a shit about sputnik while gasping for air.
Going over to Yes or Genesis right after this stuff is like listening to pop music.
acquiring has that lush feel thats why i really like it, but this thing is perfect, like the t/t doesn't age at all
The last song on 3 friends is amazing though

Between the eponymous album and Interview, my ratings are all going from 4.5 to 5. A true fanboy.
Going over to Yes or Genesis right after this stuff is like listening to pop music..
hahaha Agreed. What is surprising to me with them is they have no songs surpassing 6 or 7 minutes, then again, those are pretty rare.
Also agreed with you for Acquiring the Taste. A classic. Melodies are all killers.
As for Three Friends, I love how ''Mr Class and Quality'' merges with the t/t which is the best from the album yes. It's only too short.
If you wish, try to revisit ''Experience'' and the t/t from In a Glass House. And if you appreciate, also try ''Way of Life''.

can never really get into glass house, partly the production so glassy (!) and bright just leaves me cold
they don't need more than 6 mins they just pack in so many ideas in you need to be on cocaine or listen 200 times, more amazing arrangements in 6 mins than 4 sides of topographic flabby oceans

You nailed the good point there, mena. I have another recommendation for you, if you don't mind French lyrics. It's a symphonic prog formation. Morse Code - La Marche des Hommes. I guess you're open to foreign languages since you dig so much Italian stuff. Here's something else interesting; Fabio Zuffanti - La Quarta Vittima. It's the best done by that artist (you know him I guess). Cheers, man!

Great choice, Sab. Glad to see you're digging these guys. I dig all the albums from the first album to Interview. Three Friends is one of the least accessible, it's more experimental and it even flirts with improvisations, while Free Hand is more up tempo and ''in your face''. It's more easy to appreciate than Three Friends.
